A quick monthly overview to help keep grade 12 students informed

Here are some things to consider in your grade 12 year. While these points are a relatively comprehensive listing, your career education counsellor is your best resource to help guide you through this process. Many scholarships and university applications can be found on this career counsellor webpage

 

SEPTEMBER

1.      Review graduation plan - See your career counsellor to make sure you are in the right classes and discuss options for after high school.

2.      Create a paper file for all documents and correspondence.

3.      If you are thinking about a trade, you should be applying to a technical college and/or looking at apprenticeship opportunities.

5.      Watch for open house/spend-a-day opportunities at institutions you are interested in.

7.      Consider arranging job shadowing.

OCTOBER

  3. It is getting closer to deadlines for program acceptance at universities, should be applying soon.

  4. Start enquiring if part-time employment can move on to full-time next year if this is what you want.

JANUARY


  1. Update your paper file.

  2. Deadline for NEPS applications is January 15th.

  3. Deadline for most early entrance programs are fast approaching, it is important that if you want to be heading to university that you apply soon.

  6. Projected semester marks should be sent in where relevant.

  7. Update/create your résumés and relevant supporting documents.
