Maverick is a student driven high school for highly independent learners. The students and staff members create the policies together and agree on how they will be carried out. Policies are reviewed twice a year at class meetings.
Maverick is also unique in that many of the courses are delivered through technology supported learning (correspondence). This delivery method provides students with flexibility. Teacher led courses are delivered in blocks of time. We are planning to offer more teacher led blocked classes in the 08-09 school year.

Often times there is a waiting list and a new student may wait for a week or two before a spot becomes open for them. Maverick has the capacity to serve forty-five students, so a waiting list of 10 to 15 students is common.

Students can register at Maverick at any time during the school year. An interview is conducted with the student and their parent or another significant adult in their life. At the interview we learn about the student and the student and parent learn about Maverick. It is important that both the school and the student agree that Maverick is a "fit" for them educationally and socially.
