and individual excellence while promoting lifelong learning.
Grad 2008 - On behalf of the Richmound school staff, we would like to congratulate & thank Renee & the Grad planning committee for their hard work in planning, organizing, & leading the Graduation Celebrations. GREAT JOB!
Thank You - to those families who attended the Richmound School Parent Transition meeting. The discussions & your questions are very useful in the current transition process we are attempting to embrace. Please, if you have any questions regarding your family's transition process; please do not hesitate to contact the school. At this time, we are continuing to collaborate with the receiving schools, Burstall & Fox Valley, to develop opportunities for transition activities. We will inform you of these plans as soon as they become formalized. This is just a reminder that if you have a clear indication of your child's intent of schools, please submit your transportation transition planning form to the school as soon as possible. THANK YOU!
Thank You –Thanks to Renee who has accepted the role as SRC Advisor for the remainder of the school year! Your continued dedication & commitment to our students is most valuable & very much appreciated. THANKS!!!

Nutrition Program - There have been a couple of concerns regarding wastage of fruit being distributed for the school snack program. It is unfortunate that apples & bananas are being found barely or even uneaten. There are many students in our school who are benefiting from the snack program & it would be unfortunate if the school was required to retire the program. PLEASE, remind your children to take & eat only what they can eat & please do not waste. A survey, for the students, will be distributed shortly regarding the snack program. WE APPRECIATE & THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT!
Pancake Breakfast– On Tuesday, May 20th the Cypress Credit Union will be sponsoring a pancake breakfast. Thank you very much to the ladies at the CU for always supporting Richmound School activities.
Noon Lunch – This Friday’s feature will be chicken burgers ($3) & grad cake ($.50). Proceeds from this week’s noon lunch will go towards adding more pages to the last Richmound School yearbook. Thank you for your continued support. Next week’s noon lunch will be grilled cheese sandwiches followed by taco-in-a-bag. We then wrap up the month of May with Subway.
Track & Field – The Richmound School Track & Field Meet will be held on Monday, May 26th with the alternate day being Wednesday, May 28th. Any parents, who would like to volunteer to help with the events or with the hot dog noon lunch that day, please call Renee.
Kindergarten Parents Please Note Change: There will be Kindergarten on Monday, May 26th. It has been decided that the K-Kids are going to be participating in the Track & Field events.
Burstall School – welcomes those families who would like to take a tour of the school next week to please call the Burstall School Office Manager (Janine O’Neill) to book an appointment. Remember to specify if there are certain teachers/grade levels that you would like to get in contact with. Please remember to call Richmound School if your child(ren) are going to be missing for this purpose.
Phone Book Recycling – Richmound School will once again be collecting phonebooks for recycling. For every phonebook that we collect we receive $.10. Please bring your old phonebooks to the school. There is a box outside the principal office. Salvaging one ton of paper saves 12 trees. Last year, this program helped to recycle over 150 tons of paper. Old phonebooks are used to make things like new phonebooks, egg cartons, ceiling tiles, cereal boxes & toilet paper. Thank you for helping our environment & our school. The last day for drop off will be Friday, May 23rd.

From the School Community Council– If anyone from Richmound wishes to be on the Fox Valley School Community Council, they must be elected at the Fox Valley annual SCC meeting this coming Monday night – May 12th. According to Jerry Elliot, Chinook School Division SCC Coordinator, the rules state that if no functioning school remains in a sending community, that community is not automatically entitled to a position on the SCC of the receiving school. Terrilynn Koch has indicated that she will be seeking a position on the Fox Valley SCC. If anyone else is interested, nomination forms are available at the Richmound School from Renee. Nominations will also be called from those in attendance at the meeting. The next step, of course, is for enough people to show up at the Fox Valley meeting on Monday night to cast their votes to ensure that we have Richmound representation on the Fox Valley SCC. Voting will only take place if the number of people nominated exceeds the number of positions to be filled (at least four). For more information regarding the Monday meeting or the Fox Valley SCC, call Brenda Bakanec (chairperson). The regular Richmound SCC meeting is coming up later this month. The time we have left is short but we are still here to listen to your questions and concerns.
